Miss Cupcake, Resident and promoter
Music has always been a major influence in Lynda's, life. Her father was a traditional jazz aficionado, her mother a 1950's dance instructor and her uncle was a rock and roll DJ in 1950's America. She grew up playing music herself, as well as traveling with her family to music and jazz festivals all over the country. Music was always what she wanted to do.
Starting her DJ'ing career at 16 years old, she played indie, alternative and English pop in the 80's in the small town in Kansas where she grew up, despite cowboy boots and hats being the uniform of the day. Seen as having the cow-patties to do something different in a country and western town, she was given her own radio show on the college station and thought a career in music was on the cards. But in order to get out of Kansas, she took a receptionist job for her Member of Congress in Kansas and got sidetracked by a career in Internet technologies that is still keeping her busy.
Realising 3 years ago it was now or never, Lynda quit corporate life and decided to pursue DJ'ing full time, mixing dirty house and funky electro for anyone who'd hire her. In August 2007, she entered DTPM's Decks Factor DJ competition and won, giving her the opportunity to play the main room at Fabric and continue on to other bigger parties and venues, ranging from Turnmills to the Colosseum to Lo Profile to Barcode to her weekly and monthly residencies for Rumours, CODE, Alphabet Bar and The Spread Eagle.
